Snow Days = Sew Days

This was the view in my back yard last week! Okay Mother Nature....we've had enough now! Where I live on Vancouver Island we normally have very MILD winters. The grass stays green and we only have a few days of cold weather.

But this year has been DIFFERENT and I mean WHITE different!  We had another snow storm earlier this week and there is no green grass to be seen.

I have been feeling a bit 'house bound' this week so took the opportunity to quilt some small quilts so I can share with the Parksville Quilt House Guild next week as part of my Northcott Fabrics Lecture.

Here are the 3 quilts I quilted last week during my Snow Days.

This is Galaxy, designed by Sue Beevers. Sue used Northcott's ColorWorks Concepts fabrics for this small quilt. This will be a fun donation to my Guild's Baby Quilt program.
The next quilt is Route 66. This uses the UrbanElementz collection by Patricia E. Ritter.  This quilt uses pre-fused applique shapes designed by Patricia and she has lots of other appliques available too.  I think this will be perfect for my daughter's small trailer when they go camping in the summer.

For this quilt I used some new Longarm Templates that I got at Quilt Market last fall.  These are Oval CTemplates by HandiQuilter.

And this is where I used the centre oval for custom quilting:

The third quilt has been quilted and I just have to add the binding.

This is Shattered Crystals by Pine Tree Country Quilts.  It showcases an amazing Digital Panel fabric called Expressions.  I used SuperiorThreads MicroQuilter thread and a pantograph for this one.  This thread is ON SALE and it is great for texture without 'in your face' thread colour.

I have the same quilt with black accent and hope to work on that one next week.

This fabric will be delivering to quilt shops in April. There are some wonderful projects you can make with this collection!

I had a fun week making use of my time while the snow fell outside. The rains have come and I'll see that green grass soon!

The quilts I made for International Quilt Market

It is time to SHARE....all those bits and pieced you have been seeing in my What's on My Table, Tuesday? Blog Posts.

I made 2 quilts for upcoming fabric collections (and Patchworks Studio patterns) for the Northcott booth at Market.

First is Galaxy Twist.
Galaxy Twist

This quilt uses fabrics from the Phase III ColorWorks Concepts collection. I used 2 Psychedelic panels from this upcoming collection plus 2 coordinates and ColorWorks black to make my quilt.

Psychadelic Panel
Fabrics will be in quilt shops in March 2017. Watch for this pattern in early March.

PS - sign up for my newsletter and you will be first to know what the pattern is released.

The second quilt is Dancing Orchids. I used Artisan Spirit Sandscapes Orchids for this quilt.

This collection delivers to stores in February 2017 and the pattern for this quilt will be available then.

Dancing Orchids

It has been a busy few weeks and I am so pleased with both these new quilts.

Watch for new designs coming soon. I have 2 new patterns to write in the next couple of weeks. Watch the blog (and the Newsletter) for the release.

More Quilts!

I was a cutting, piecing, quilting 'machine' creating more new pattern quilts in September and part of October.  Here is a 'sneak peak' of the quilts that you'll see as patterns over the next few months.

Happy Hour........
uses an amazing collection of fabrics based on Northcott's Colorworks fabrics.

The collection is called Colorworks Concepts and the panel I started with is called 'Cosmopolitan'.

That lead me to think of the drink....which always is served in martini-style glasses.

What fun it was to design the paper pieced martini glasses and to make this quilt!

Here are 2 quilts I designed and made using Stonehenge Gradations Brights fabrics. These are the PERFECT range of 5 values in a range of colourways.

Illusions uses Stonehenge Tiles (10" squares) plus yardage to make this 52" square quilt. The pattern will include 4 different colour options!

Picnic in the Park - 62" x 82"

This quilt goes together very quickly - piecing is simple and I fused the circles to the large blocks and then used machine blanket stitch to applique them.

I designed one more quilt with these fun fabrics. I'll show you that one next week.

Sign up to receive my FREE online Newsletter and you'll be the first to know when these designs are available as patterns.  The link is to the right and I'll send you a FREE pattern (and more!)as my thank you.
