Online Learning - Academy of Quilting

I taught classes online at Quilt University for over 10 years. When they decided to close, I was invited to continue teaching online at the Academy of Quilting

The 'AOQ' was created in 2008. The purpose of this quilting classroom is to help quilters (beginners through to advanced) create wonderful quilts with the ease of having one on one instruction.

In the Academy of Quilting you will find:
  • Detailed instructions enhanced with photographs and, in some cases, videos
  • Online presentation of your work along with other students
  • A Discussion Forum to ask your questions and learn from questions other students ask
  • The opportunity to meet other students from around the world
  • Classes that are competitively priced and unsurpassed in quality
My first class (Seminole Piecing) is now open for registration.

This totebag is one of the projects you can create in my Seminole Piecing class.
Seminole Piecing is a patchwork method used by the Seminole people of south Florida to enhance their garments. I will show you how to create eight bands of patchwork using simple rotary cutting and basic piecing techniques. The magic comes when you cut the units apart and sew them back together. You will be inspired by my suggestions to use the bands to trim garments and home décor items. You will learn to make a tote bag, bolster pillow and wall quilt. Level: Advanced beginner and up.

The class has 3 Lessons, one posted each week starting on January 17th. The tuition is only $30 US and you can learn from the comfort of home - with your entire stash of fabric to work with and all your favourite tools and equipment. Don't you just hate it when you travel to a class and you know you have the perfectfabric, but it's at home in your fabric stash! It's no problem when you take an online class.

I hope you will consider joining me and please be sure to look around the Academy of Quilting site to see other classes that you would like to take - to make this your CREATIVE year.
