Flowers on Friday

Here it is week 3 of June and so many flowers are blooming in my garden - hurray!  This poppy makes an appearance sporadically....that means some years I get one and some I don't.  This is a great year....but I only have ONE!

And here is a small art quilt I made a few years ago when it bloomed for the first time.

I have never seen a poppy this color! So gorgeous! Love your art quilt too.

I think these are Icelandic poppies. I have one in my Ontario garden and it blooms every year. Perhaps it's too warm on Vancouver Island for it to bloom every year. I would love to be able to grow the Himalayan blue poppies, but they need a colder climate, such as in Quebec.

These do grow fine here...just not in MY garden this year. My mom who lives about 3 miles away has great success. I bought a blue poppy this year so we will see what happens next year with that.
