Mayne Island Quilt Show

The 'Loose Threads Sew-ciety' (my weekly quilt group) had a little 'road trip' to Mayne Island to see the island Guild's Quilt Show. Mayne Island is one of the Gulf Islands, on Canada's west coast. If you've ever taken the ferry from Tsawassen to Swartz Bay, you sail into Active Pass with Mayne Island on your left. We watched two ferries go through this narrow channel after we had seen the quilt show.

The Quilt Show was outdoors at the Dinner Bay Park & Japanese Garden. It rained in the morning so the garden was lush and green.

These two little girls welcomed us to the garden in their traditional Kimono

and then we saw wonderful quilts including these two sunflower designs from a workshop presented by Coreen Zerr

by Cilla Brooke and Patti Wood.

And my friend, Judy Taylor, was one of the 'guest artists' and displayed many of her innovative pieces including this Canadian Quilters' Association award winner.

Here are some of Judy's other pieces.

What a great day we had!
