Donation Quilts - Alberta Flooding

The pattern for this quilt  originally was posted on the Patchworks Studio website in May 1997. Quilters were invited to make quilts to donate to flood victims in Manitoba, Canada, and North Dakota, USA.

It made an appearance again when quilters worldwide were moved to make quilts for the Kosovo refugees and again after September 11th.

The next time I posted this pattern was after British Columbia experienced the worst forest fires in recorded history. Many quilters lost their homes.

Once again there is a need to comfort our friends and neighbours. Flooding has devastated southern Alberta.

I am sure you have seen pictures on TV. The pictures can't begin to tell the stories of personal losses. A quilt is more than a 'blanket'. It tells a person that someone cares. I encourage you to make this quilt once again to donate to our neighbours in need.

My Sewing Room in Calgary will accept donations of quilts and fabrics.

You will find the pattern instructions here.

Also, please consider making a donation to the Red Cross. They are an amazing organization that mobilizes quickly whenever there is a need.
