I have been sorting through the hundreds of photographs I (and my husband) took on our Caribbean Quilting cruise. It has been great fun re-living the trip! It will take a few posts to show what we saw and tell about our trip.
We flew to Fort. Lauderdale and spent a couple of nights there. Not a lot of time to tour the area but we did visit a couple of quilt shops with our quilting cruisers.

First stop in the Caribbean was
Half Moon Cay. This is an island in the Bahamas that is owned by the cruise ship companies. No one lives here (except a few maintenance staff) but there are various island tours available. Alan and I joined a walking tour and our guide told us about the plants we saw on our walk. She focussed on their medicinal properties and their use among the people of the area to heal all manner of ailments. We hiked to up Ruin Hill to see ruins of an early settlement and take in the view over the area.

Next on the itinerary was
Grand Turk in the Turks and Caicos. On this day we joined my friends Jill and John (and my mom) for a trip to Governor's Beach. We were all anxious to get into that crystal-clear blue water for a swim. We had the whole beach almost to ourselves! A short walk and we were back on the ship.
